Biography: Graduated from Medicine and Surgery School of University of Siena, Italy, Medical Doctor in 1997. He had a Specialist Diploma in Ophthalmology in 2001 and received his PhD in Degenerative and Oncological Ocular Pathology in 2006 from the University of Siena, Italy. He introduced the Corneal Cross Linking Therapy in Italy in 2004 being awarded for the best Ophthalmology Research Project in Italy “Eye Cross Project” Corneal Crosslinking for Conservative Treatment of Keratoconus by the Italian Society of Ophthalmology (SOI). In 2009 awarded Adjunct Professor in innovative corneal surgery at degree course of Optometry School of University of Siena and in 2015 as Assistant Professor of Corneal Pathology at Post Graduate Ophthalmology Specialty School, School of Medicine of Siena University, Italy. Currently he is Director of the Siena International Crosslinking Center and works as Assistant Professor of Corneal Pathology at Post-Graduate Ophthalmology Specialty School, School of Medicine, University of Siena. His areas of interest include corneal collagen cross-linking, corneal dystrophies and keratoconus, in vivo confocal microscopy, cataract, refractive surgery and corneal transplants. International opinion leader in the field of crosslinking therapy, he published a consistent number of peer-reviewed articles in the field of corneal diseases, crosslinking therapy and in vivo confocal microscopy being invited speaker in over 200 national and international meetings and representing the European Society of Cataract and Refractive Surgery in the last Intercontinental Symposium of Cataract and Refractive Surgery World Societies.
