Apparently, one of the newest emerging trends in swimwear, in Asian countries is the facekini.
The facekini is a balaclava style sort of headgear that covers your face leaving only your eyes, mouth and nostrils uncovered. The purpose of the facekini is to prevent the wearer from developing too dark of a tan while out at the beach.
The trend first emerged in China where having tanned skin is not desirable like it is in the Western world. For the Chinese, those with tanned skin are deemed to be of a lower social class because being tanned means working outside in the sun.
People buy them for a few dollars or even make their own from old clothes at home.
I am all for practicing safe sun and all but I don`t know about you, but I would much rather use sunscreen! Plus I feel like this would create a weird looking tan line, especially between the neck and chest!
What do you guys think of this crazy look?
