Super Rugby achieved most of SANZAR`s goals in terms of game play during the 2012 season. From the tackle area the ball was available within 3 seconds 72% of the time, there was an average of 34.5 minutes of ball in play time per game, less than 45 kicks from hand per game, an average of 19 penalties per game and 60% of scrums completed on the first hit. It`s only in this last area that they missed their target - an ambitious 70% of scrums completed on the first hit.
I`m not sure what the NH stats are, but articles like this indicate there is a problem with the scrum. Just watching NH rugby you realize there is problems with scrum time and the amount of time wasted. Should we follow Super Rugby? no messing about at scrum time, ball in, ball out ?
