I was at a restaurant for a family event recently and I wanted to share the great meal I had.
The restaurant is called The Old Country Inn and features a German inspired menu. We had a reserved room in the back and they had created a set menu for us where we could choose between a few of their most popular options.
The main course had a few options, included a vegetarian option, a fish option and a chicken option. But this being a German restaurant, it seemed that the vast majority chose the Wiener schnitzel! In fact, almost everyone at our table chose the schnitzel lol.
If you havent heard of schnitzel, it is basically when you take a cut of meat, pound it out so it is very thin, bread it and fry it! Traditionally it is made with veal, but you can also get pork or chicken schnitzel.
It came paired with a some steamed vegetables and some delicious home fries. The one thing I could say is that the dish was a little dry, so I wish there was some more sauce, but it was delicious regardless.
I`ve only ever had authentic schnitzel once before, and that was on a layover trip in Austria a number of years ago.
When was the last time you had schnitzel?
