Why Britney Spears Shaved Her Head (my own personal theory)

** not my own photo, obviously **

Remember when Britney Spears shaved her head? That was almost 4 years ago already. Did you think she was "Cr-AAA-zee!" (couldn`t resist lol)? Most people did. But I have a different theory.

A little background info: I have been cutting my own hair myself for the last 6 yrs or so. So I am no stranger to the DIY hairstyle. From a blunt-cut jaw-length bob to long wispy layers flowing down my back, I`ve done it all. It`s a skill that has taken some time to refine, but I love doing it. It`s quickly become a favourite hobby of mine.

Of course I was just as shocked as everyone else when I saw the news about Britney`s DIYer, but I understood why she did it. After all, I`ve been cutting my own hair for ages. & this is why:

It is sooo freeing!! When I cut my own hair, it is extremely liberating. Because it`s something I can CONTROL, in my own life. & it`s more of a sense of control than I get from just styling my hair. Cutting actually changes the way the hair can look, the way it will fall naturally, the way it can behave.

My spouse of 10 yrs can attest to this as well. Recently, we started shaving his head with buzzers similar to what Britney used. He doesn`t go completely bald, but rather we buzz it down to 1/8". The first time we used the clippers, he was so excited to try it himself. & he did. & he was so thrilled & said how amazing that felt to take control. He actually used the same word I thought the first time I took to doing my own hair: liberating.

In Britney`s case, she`s been told what to do by her managers since she was a teenager. Managers aren`t her parents, but they were acting as parental figures by giving her restrictions, setting work up for her to do & she couldn`t say no. She didn`t want to disappoint anyone: managers, parents, & all her millions of fans. I think it got to the point where she didn`t want to take it & she rebelled by shaving off all her million dollar hair. Cuz a bald chick isn`t seen as traditionally beautiful by all the teeny boppers that love her & she just plain didn`t want to be seen for a while. I totally get it.

What do you think? Do you believe the hype that she went temporarily insane? Or do you think it was a simple case of delayed teenage rebellion?
