I think eating whole grain is important for fiber because you can only really build that up in your system until a certain age, then you`ll have to take supplements in old age if you have a deficiency. I like getting this Barilla Whole Wheat Penne Pasta because it`s made with 51% whole wheat, but it doesn`t taste too grainy. There are some whole wheat pastas that I have tried from Whole Foods that taste really gritty, and it`s not bad, but it just doesn`t feel like it`s pasta anymore because the texture is harder. This is the perfect texture, you can still tell it`s whole grain, but it`s pretty soft. I have to cook these maybe 5-7 minutes longer to get the softness I typically get with normal pasta, but that`s not a big deal. My favorite sauces to use with this are pesto or tomato basil!
I highly recommend trying this if you`re looking for whole wheat pasta, but you don`t like gritty textures.
