This is the cake I made that was requested by my neice. It was for a birthday and a farewell. It is a 9" 2 layer round cake. Top layer, red velvet, bottom layer, white. In the middle is white buttercream frosting and strawberries. The cake is also iced in white buttercream and decorated with purple roses and scalloped borders. It didn`t turn out exactly as I wanted, especially the roses cause the buttercream was too thin and soft. I was supposed to use whip cream as one of the ingredients but I didn`t have it on hand so I subsituted it with 2% milk. You could actually see a crack in the middle of the cake. And I wasn`t satisfied with the white cake either. It was too dense. I liked the texture of the red velvet cake cause it was soft and airy. I don`t know how the cake box mixes always do that. They`re cakes always come out airy and soft. I am still gonna search for the perfect recipe but if anyone knows of a recipe I can try, please comment below. Thanks!
