Wengen, located in the Bernese Oberland in the region of Jungfrauregion, in central Switzerland, is one of few alpine villages that cannot be reached by road. Tourists must hop on a train from Lauterbrunnen to reach this tranquil village, free of all traffic noises. Though the number of residents year- round in Wengen is approximately 1300, the number swells to about 10,000 in the winter season, due to the high number of tourists. This charming village that appears to be straight out of Heidi, is home to the International Lauberhorn Downhill Ski Race.
