Our eyelashes make all the difference for our makeup looks, so there`s a lot to consider when looking for what kind of mascara to buy. Common things to look for when choosing a mascara is its volumizing effect and how much it lengthens your lashes. Often, many mascaras come in several forms-one waterproof and one non-waterproof. So what`s the difference? Actually, this one little characteristic can make a big difference. Below I`ve listed out pros and cons to both waterproof and non-waterproof mascaras. Keep in mind that there is no such thing as a fully waterproof mascara. Waterproof mascara just holds better when wet than non-waterproof mascara.
Holds curled lashes longer
Won`t run as much when wet
Generally a thicker formula (This could be a con too depending on how you look at it. A thicker formula will be more volumizing, but it will also tend to flake more.)
Hard to take off at night, so it is more likely that you will be rougher on your lashes when trying to remove it, which will lead to more lash loss.
Better for a more natural look (in my opinion) since it has a bit thinner formula.
Easy to take off
Will run a lot when wet or if you cry
Doesn`t keep lashes curled as well
One more thing I though I should mention is that I think (but am not 100% sure about this) waterproof mascara breaks down your lashes more than non-waterproof formulas. In other words, it makes your lashes thinner over time because the formula is harsher on your lashes. This is negligible, though. This is just from my own experience, but let me know what you think in the comments below and also let me know if you can think of any other pros or cons, too. Thanks for reading! :)
