Visiting Long Beach, California

I just moved to Long Beach, CA not too long ago, so I thought it might be fun to write a review of the city from the eyes of a tourist in case anyone else comes here and wants to know what there is to see and do!

Perhaps the most recognizable attraction in Long Beach is the Queen Mary, which was one of the largest cruise ships ever built back around the turn of the century. Tours are available to walk-through the ship and it is rather interesting to see the grandeur of the dining halls, ballrooms and even the guest quarters.

While visiting the Queen Mary, you may also be interested in visiting the Aquarium of the Pacific located less than a mile away. I have been to many aquariums around the world and I have to say that this one is one of the best. They have so many different exhibits to observe the different species of marine life and they even allow you to hold and pet certain animals as well.

By the time you have gone through those two places, the majority of your day will have been taken up and you probably will find that you are ready to eat dinner somewhere. The beauty about being in this part of Long Beach is that adjacent to the Queen Mary and Aquarium of the Pacific is an area called "The Pike," which has easily over 50 restaurants and bars that you can have your pick on where to eat. Out of those, there are about 10 restaurants that are directly on the water, which is where I personally prefer to eat as the view of the boats and ocean makes the dining experience much more enjoyable.

There are many more hidden gems and places to see in the city of Long Beach, but if you only have a day here, I think that the above itinerary would provide you with a great experience so that you will want to make it back to explore some more another time.
