Before I went vegetarian, I baked A LOT. I baked cookies, cupcakes, cakes, cheese cakes, anything I could, I would bake it. BUUUUTTTT Once I started to transition into a vegan, baking no longer became a think were I could just go to the store, buy a premix, and just go at it, I had to research substitutes for butter, eggs, and milk. Surprisingly it`s not as hard as many people think.
These are the best substitutes that I`ve found.
Substitutions for 1 cup Milk:
*1 Cup Soy Milk
*1 Cup Almond Milk
Substitutions for 1 cup Butter:
*1 cup Vegan Butter
*3/4 cup vegetable oil
Substitutions for Egg:
-For baking sweets: 1 Banana mashed, or 1/4 cup applesauce
*2 Tbsp. potato starch
*1/4 cup mashed potatoes
*1/4 cup canned pumpkin or squash
*1/4 cup puréed prunes
These are the good substitutes that I`ve found that make the baked goods seem like I didn`t change the recipe at all.
