Apparently, Virginia Commonwealth University (VCU) Volleyball coach, James Finley, claims he was fired by the school because he is gay. The women`s volleyball coach, Finley, 52, was fired on Nov. 19, one day after finishing 25-6, the best winning percentage (.806) in his eight-year tenure. The Volleyball team had the highest winning percentage since the past 23 years. What is so shocking is Finley was informed that the decision not to renew his contract had nothing to do with his record. Finley said he would consider taking legal action if not reinstated. In my opinion, VCU and the Athletic department better have a reasonable, solid explanation for this decision.
