Ulta Rewards VS Sephora Beauty Insider
Sephora Rewards VS Ulta Rewards
I am an active member of both rewards programs and I decided to do a comparison of the two just to see if one really is better, and who knows this might help you find one that is better suited to your needs.
Sephora Rewards is also known as their Beauty Insider. Through Sephora you can redeem your rewards when you reach 100 or 500 points. Points are accumulated by making purchases either online or in stores using your Beauty Insider Card. You earn a point for every $1 you spend.
The 100 point rewards as of today (July 18, 2012) are:
· Lancôme Hypnos Star Mascara
· Jack Black Double Duty Face Moisturizer SPF 20
· Dermadoctor picture Porefect
· Philosophy Purity Facial Cleansing Gel and Make up remover
The 500 point rewards as of today are:
· Makeup Forever Backstage Basics kit
· Caudalie Beauty Essentials
Another feature Sephoras Beauty Insider offers is the VIB which is their Premium Level rewards. To qualify you have to spend $350 a year. The web means but it includes
· 10% off your next order
· Invitations to Private Events
· Exclusive rewards
· Special Privlidges like access to products before they come out
· A Beauty concierge
Sephora also offers a birthday gift, which you can pick up anytime in your birth month. The gifts very from being a full sized product to a trial size but they never lack quality. The 2011 Birthday gift was a full sized Philosophy Shower gel that smells like Birthday Cake. The 2012 gift is a set of two Fresh sugar lip minis (which are amazing).
Ulta rewards program is similar to Sephoras. You earn a point for every $1 you spend in stores or online. The big difference is that instead of exchanging your points in for specific products you can get money off your purchases or save them up and trade them in for services at Ulta Salons.
o 100 points = $3.00 off
o 250 points = $8.00 off or A Free target Skin Care Treatment
o 500 points= $17.50 off or A Free OPI Gel Service
o 750 points = $30.00 off or A Free Full service Dermalogica Skin Treatment
o 1,000 points= $50.00 off or A Free Signature haircut, style and target skincare treatment
o 2,000 points= $125.00 off or A Free haircut, color and style and a full service skin treatment
I like that they offer those Salon services which start at $20 and go up $130 values. You might not be willing to spend the $50 to get the skin care treatment, but if its offered as a reward why not? And the rewards can be redeemed at any point and almost any point value. At 200 points you can redeem them for $6.00, so the rewards have a consistent redemption point.
Ulta Rewards like the Sephora rewards also offers a platinum program. You can earn Platinum status by spending $350 in a year. What I like about Ultas Platinum cards is that the rewards are more solid than Sephoras.
o You earn 1.25 points
o Platinum points never expire
o You receive platinum birthday gift
o Exclusive offers and event invitations
Another great thing about Ulta Rewards is that they send out their catalogs and they often contain coupons that past few have had $3.00 off purchase, and they contain a list of products that will be worth double to triple the reward value. Plus you will receive bonus points at random!
Sephora and Ulta Earn 1 point for every $1 spent
Only Ulta offers bonus/doubled/tripled points
Sephora offers products for points Ulta offers cash off and salon services
You have to spend $350 to reach both stores high end rewards program
Sephora rewards never expire Ulta rewards expire 1 year from the date of receiving them
Both rewards programs have their pros and cons. It all depends what brands you buy regularly to which would work best, or if you prefer product rewards of cash rewards. Personally for me the products I buy Sephora and Ulta both have and I would always choose Ulta over Sephora. I prefer getting money off products I actually want, rather than free products that I have no interest in. And with Ulta Ive spent about $130 and I now have over 200 rewards points with Sephora you have to spend $100 for the 100 points. I also like that Ulta has the option of using your points for salon services, those are services Id never pay for, but since I dont actually have to its completely guilt free! I know a lot of people prefer Sephoras rewards but Im an Ulta girl for sure. Dont get me wrong I shop at Sephora still, but not frequently enough to even get close to getting anything for their rewards and plus you dont need to buy anything to get your free birthday gift an offer I take advantage every June!
Well I hope this post have made the two reward systems a little clearer and has helped you decide which is better suited for your buying. If you have any other questions I am pretty knowledgeable about both stores so dont be scared to ask!
