I purchased this chunky statement necklace from Banana Republic for $20 on sale. My mom was eyeing it a while ago when we went shopping, but it was $40 then, so she didn`t think it was really worth it. She was right because compared to other Banana Republic pieces we have purchased in the past, the quality on this one didn`t feel as nice.
First of all, the little crystals look a little plastic-y and don`t sparkle as nicely as the ones on other jewelry pieces we have purchased from Banana Republic. It`s a bit of a rip off because for $40, I think we`re paying more for the quality because you can find similar pieces at Forever 21 for $5-$7. The chain part that wraps around those crystal links has such a "delicate" surface, and by this I mean that it is the kind of silver the scratches easily and will just get duller over time.
However, I did really like the way it looked with the blouse my mom was wearing that day, and she thought it was a nice statement piece too. So when I saw that it finally went on sale, at $20, I thought it was worth it.
The piece itself is not too heavy, although it might appear that way. Overall, I just love the style of it! I really like the chain jewelry trend that has been going around, but I feel that this piece will stay a classic piece, and will still be wearable after the trend is replaced by another trend.
