This is a traditional court cake from Korea. This cake is made from ripen honey and malt. This cake is cooled, kneaded, stretched then folded. This is a traditional court cake because it symbolizes longevity, health, good fortune and wish fulfillment. Back in the days this used to be eaten by rich fortunate families.
I think it was awesome that I got to try this cake. I got this cake from Korea because my brother in law just returned home from a business trip there and bought back some goodies for my family.
What I thought about this cake? Well, it is EXTREMELY sticky when you chew like it gets stuck in your teeth because of the honey and malt but it`s good? As for flavor, I don`t know what it tastes like.. it`s hard to explain but I do taste sesame (which is inside). I`m not sure if I would repurchase it though but I liked how I got to try something new.
Have you ever tried this cake before? Or something similar?
