I picked up this bag of frozen Chicken Chow Mein at Trader Joes on one of my last run-throughs. Ive been trying to find quick and easy meals that we could stick in the freezer for days where dinner isnt available or time just isnt on our sides. This wasnt supposed to be dinner yesterday, but when I got home from running last minute errands I noticed the pork kabobs I was going to cook had to be defrosted so that was quickly no longer an option.
This literally took about 8 minutes to cook and it was absolutely DELICIOUS! My boyfriend even loved it, so this will be something I repurchase. All you have to do is add 1 tablespoon of oil (I used olive oil) into the bottom of a skillet. Turn the heat onto high, swirl around your oil then dump in the contents of the bag (not including the package of sauce). Cover the pan with a lid and let it do its thing stirring occasionally. I tossed the sauce packet in a bowl of warm water so it defrosted but it would probably defrost naturally just sitting out because its not a completely frozen block. The noodles take a little while to break apart but I had no problem with burning, etc. Everything cooked perfectly and evenly. Once its all heated through, you open your sauce packet and stir it in. Literally 30 seconds after that, your dinner is complete.
The package said it contained 3 servings but my boyfriend and I split this evenly down the middle. I had some extra broccoli in the fridge that I steamed through in the microwave and added that alongside our meal. Delicious!
Have you ever tried the Trader Joes Chicken Chow Mein?
