One of the most anticipated launches from Too Faced for Fall 2012 are these Too Faced La Crème Color Drenched Lip Creams ($21 USD / $25 CAD). These lipsticks are Too Faceds answer to the popular lip butter formula thats been released everywhere- a gorgeous hybrid between high coverage lip color and the shine of a gloss. They glide on like silk and provide the best of both worlds; color and comfort.
This new formula from Too Faced hydrates lips deep down- and that is one of my favorite things about these buttery lip colors. I found that with the Revlon Lip Butters and even some of the higher-end dupes, my lips felt more dry after the color had worn away then before I first applied. Not with these- my lips feel moisturized and better afterwards.
The color range is also phenomenal! With twelve medium-to-full coverage color, its not going to be an easy choice if youre choosing just one! Ive been trying out these six shades:
Naked Dolly: A light nude pink; a little bit darker than Nude Beach, but still very nude.
Sweet Maple: A plum brown; quite a rich, deep shade. I found hard to apply from the tube, but has a very nice full-coverage finish.
Stiletto Red: This classic red looks super pretty, but its not very functional for me; Im too scared the buttery formula will slip and slide or transfer too easily.
Coral Fire: A beautiful coral! A little more on the pink side than orange, and definitely one of my favourites.
Nude Beach: My absolute favorite shade! The perfect nude lip for my skin tone; but it still has a pink undertone (that combined with the glossy finish makes it look super wearable).
Razzle Dazzle Rose: Another top shade; a gorgeous pink rose. Looks a lot more vibrant on the lips than in the tube too.
There are two downsides of these lip colors that Ive found (and they are the same cons that Ive discovered with every other brands version of the formula); they arent very long lasting and its really hard to apply bold, deep shades precisely from the tube. Because they are so comfortable and buttery, they lack staying power granted, they do last a few hours but cant stand up to a kiss or lunch. I really loved the fool-proof application of the lighter colors, and even the mid-tone shades like Razzle Dazzle Rose, but go any more deep like Stiletto Red or Sweet Maple and you better have a lip brush- they are so creamy, they melt like butter when youre applying them so getting a precise line is just not easy.
In general, I prefer lighter or mid-tone shades for this formula Im way too scared of smearing a red lip so Ill always opt for a long-wearing formula instead.
