The Starving Artist
My friend and I recently decided to hit up a place in downtown Toronto`s west neighbourhood called the Starving Artist.
The Starving Artist is a cute spot known for its brunch. It`s not a particularly big place so there is often a wait, especially on the weekends. We went on Saturday morning and we ended up waiting about 20 minutes to be seated and an hour for our food (though they did warn us while we were in line).
The reason for the wait is because all of their dishes have waffles featured in one way or another, and they take some time to cook.
Even their eggsbenedict options come with mini waffles instead of English muffins. But they also have a potato waffle for those who want something without sugar (like me!).
So I opted for the English muffin with the potato waffle. My friend chose the regular eggs Benny with a mini waffle.
Both of the waffles were cooked really well with crispy outsides and nice and warm insides. My poached eggs were cooked a little too far for my liking since the yolk was no longer runny. However my friends was cooked really well. I knew that the kitchen was jammed so I didn`t bother saying anything and since the wait for the food was so long already, I knew that it would take forever to get better cooked eggs.
But it wasn`t that big of deal so I didn`t really mind.
All in all, it was fun to try a new brunch spot, and with all the waiting it was a great opportunity to catch up with my friend. :)
