The Real McCoy
I recently hit up a classic burger joint in Toronto called The Real McCoy. This place has been around for decades, but I had never visited before.
My friend decided to take me out to eat there, so I could try their famous `Mojo` burger. Apparently, the restaurant was part of a contest held by a radio station called Mojo yeeeeeears ago. When they won the title of best Burger in Toronto, one of the stipulations was to change the name of the burger.
The Mojo burger is a homemade burger with bacon and Cheddar. And in classic burger joint fashion, you get to customize your toppings. Thought you can`t see from this angle, I included lettuce, tomatoes, pickles and ketchup.
Instead of opting for fries, my friend and I decided to split a poutine. I thought we should get a `large` since we were going to share, but my friend being more knowledgeable, said that a regular size would be more than enough. And boy was he right! They piled on a heap of thick cut crispy fries, and drenched it with the cheese and gravy! It was super yummy, and even with us sharing, it was difficult to finish.
I have to say the burger was delish. I want to go back soon, and perform my own special `burger joint` test. For me, if I`m going to an old school burger spot, the ultimate test is how they make their onion rings, so I need to go back and get some ASAP ;)
