Of course St. Lucia itself is already a place you should visit before you die. But the most notable and the most photographed landmarks in St Lucia are without doubt the Pitons. The pitons are two now dormant Volcanoes and they`re called Gros Piton and Petit Piton. With their size they dominate the landscape of the west coast of St Lucia.
The pitons are covered in lush green vegetation and they seem to majestically rise from the clear blue waters of the Caribbean. What makes them so spectacular is that they actually do rise straight from Piton Bay and from every angle viewed, they look as impressive as they are!
Gros Piton stands 797 metres above sea level and can be climbed with tours that provide transportation to the "Interpretive centre"( a small sort of welcome center). It`s smaller twin Petit Piton stands 750 metres above sea level.
