This film was flawless. As it should considering the author Stephen Chbosky directed it. I laughed and I cried. I felt the same way I did when I read the book. When I saw the film last week , it was still a limited release , so I had to go out of my way to see it. The films source material is one of my absolute favourite novels of all time , so unsurprisingly I was there the day it came out.
The performances were spectacular. Logan Lerman was the best Charlie I could imagine. He completely captured the character I had in my mind. He was the same Charlie from the book. Emma Watson was quite good as well. Not perfect , but good. She had trouble were her accent it seemed , but for the most part captured Sam very well. The biggest stand out in the cast was Ezra Miller as Patrick. He played the part absolutely flawlessly. I found his character to be the most true to the book of all the characters and the one I most enjoyed watching. Another note worthy performance was Mae Whitman as Mary Elizabeth. She played the part perfectly.
The film was one of the best adaptations I have seen. The tone was perfect , was the amount of Smiths references. I actually plan on seeing it again a couple more times. It was perfect.
