I thought the entrance to L.L. Bean was clever for a sporting goods store. Door handles that look like boat paddles, and actual boats nearby used as decorations are relevant to the content of the store, and they tie together in theme. Using a theme keeps these types of items from looking like random stuff thrown all over the store front. It fascinates people to see something out of place, and might even get a few people to walk in if they`re interested in this type of merchandise. It`s a great way to advertise right outside the store, and it`s a great conversation piece that may get their customers talking about them long after they`ve left. If you ever own a store, putting something in front of your shop that gets attention easily can be great for business.
