There has been quite a bit of controversy in terms of how Barbie is depicted as being the norm of how girls should look like. Researcher and artist Nickolay Lamm decided to created the `average` looking Barbie according to today`s stats on the average American women that`s 19 years old. So what would Barbie really look like today?
Apparently she would have brunette hair and a larger waist size. Lammily is meant to `promote realistic beauty standards.` And is meant to show that average is beautiful. You could purchase a pack of stickers featuring a variety of `normal` things such as acne, stretch marks, moles, cellulite, scars, freckles, tattoos, and much more. So basically customizing it to what you think is beautiful.
The doll is sold for $25 and the pack of stickers is $6. There are several outfits that you can buy for Lammily, however, you can not use Barbie clothes on her due to the body size difference.
The creator hopes to create a line that will eventually include various ethnicities and body shapes.
Do you think this is a good idea to promote positive body image?
