Today I saw the drama movie The Impossible. This movie stars Naomi Watts, Ewan McGregor and Tom Holland and its based on the true story of Maria Belóns family during the 2004 Tsunami. Naomi Watts has received a nomination for the Academy Award for Best Actress due to this movie.
Maria and her husband, Henry, travel with their 3 sons Lucas (age 13), Tomas (age 7) and Simon (age 5) to a tropical paradise resort in Thailand. On the 26th December, Maria is with her family on the resorts pool when the Tsunami occurs, destroying the coastal zone.
Maria gets seriously injured, especially one her leg, during the flood but she manages to find Lucas and they both save a little boy named Daniel, whose been separated from his family. Maria and Lucas are almost sure that Henry, Tomas and Simon died.
Wow I can hardly believe the tsunami occurred 9 years ago
When I first saw this movies thriller on the TV I was shocked and I remembered I thought to myself I would never ever see it because it seemed so impressing in an awful way.
Anyway, a friend of mine really wanted to see this movie so I she managed to convinced me.
During the entire movie I was so shocked and I kept thinking this is based on a true story, like this really happened to a family.
I remember, back in 2004, seeing it on the news but its such an awful thing we cant even imagine what those people were going through.
This movie was very well made and I think Naomi Watts deserves to win the Academy Award for Best Actress. I give this movie a 7,5 out of 10 (7,5/10).
