Some of the colder regions in this world, including Canada, Sweden, Norway and Finland are making the best of what they have, and I mean what they have the most of--yes, snow, ice and everything related!
These countries have one thing in common and that is long harsh winters, but that doesn`t stop them from attracting tourists. They do so with the advent of ice hotels! These hotels feature anything and everything made of ice, ranging from ice furnishings to fascinating ice sculptures.
The temperature in the hotel varies between - 4 to - 9 degrees Centigrade, depending mainly on the outside temperature as well as the number of guests.
Overnight guests are provided with thermal sleeping bags, which are situated atop a special bed made of snow and ice. Other amenities for the guests include refrigerators, TVs, showers, as well as saunas (pretty much the standard offerings of any regular hotel).
These hotels are a one of a kind of experience and I would personally love to stay the night at least once. The standard package offered by the hotel in Sweden is priced at $1690 per person for a double occupancy bedroom as per http://www.scantours.net/products/category.php5?id=25.
I hope you enjoyed my brief post about this unique style of lodging. Let us know if you would be up for such an adventure. If by chance you have already experienced a similar hotel, please share your thoughts!
As always, thank you for reading! :)
