The Fault in Our Stars
I`m sure most of you have heard of the upcoming movie `The Fault In Our Stars`.
Unlike most people I didn`t initially realize that the movie was based on a book.
I actually heard about this story for the first time on a webisode of one of my favourite YouTube shows, Teens React from TheFineBros.
Based on the video and trailer for the movie, I decided to read the book and I`m glad I did.
I managed to finish it in just a few days since I couldn`t put it down. When I finished it, I totally got that bittersweet feeling you get at the end of a great book: you are glad to have found a story you enjoyed so much, but you are sad that it is over (or is that just me? Lol).
And as sad as the story is, it`s also very uplifting.
I don`t want to give away to much of the story so I`ll give you the summary with minimum spoilers.
The story revolves around a 16-year-old cancer patient named Hazel Grace. She is forced by her parents to attend a cancer support group where she meets a boy in remission named Augustus.
The story revolves around their relationship, and with their struggles with cancer.
It provides a unique perspective on being a teenager while dealing with a terminal illness.
The book is a great blend of emotion but still infused with plenty of humour. I would highly recommend it!
The author, John Green, is also well known as one part of the vlogbrothers. I had never heard of him but apparently he and his brother have a very strong Internet following.
I`m also very interested in seeing the movie. While there is always the fear that the movie won`t do the book justice, John Green himself has said that he was very happy with the movie`s portrayal of his story.
I`m also going to look into some of the other books he has written, since I enjoyed this book so much.
Have you read any of his other books that you can recommend? Have you read The Fault in Our Stars, yourself?
