The Olympics in London have come and gone, but the Paralympics will be starting soon, so I`m trying to stay in the Olympic spirit.
It`s great to feel a sense of unity while cheering for your country (or countries) or choice. After Canada hosted the Winter games in 2010, I feel like everyone has tried to prolong that feeling. I live in Canada, so I cheer for Team Canada, but I`m Armenian so I also cheer for Team Armenia. My mom was born in Lebanon so she cheers for Lebanon as well as Canada and Armenia! LOL
Anyways, I always try to get at least one piece of Team Canada apparel and after seeing the Team Canada denim jackets at the closing ceremonies, I KNEW I wanted one. They are really cute and outdoorsy, and I love the girl guide/boy scout-esque patches.
The next day, I went to the store, and they were almost sold out (except for kids sizes) and had exactly one jacket left and though it was a men`s size, I grabbed it anyways! There isn`t much difference in the two anyways (or so the salespeople said).
I also ended up grabbing 2 pairs of red mittens that were on sale (2 for $15). In 2010, I along with almost every other Canadian bought the iconic red mittens and besides being very cute, and patriotic, they are also awesome for the cold Canadian winter! They have come out with different designs each year, and I regretted not getting the 2011 one last year since I thought it would be cool to have the matching set.
Lucky for me, they had a handful of the 2011 mittens along with the 2012 mittens, so now I have the ones from each year. I think it will be cool to collect them if they keep making them, and I also like how a portion of the proceeds from the mittens help fund the Olympians.
How do you keep the Olympic Spirit alive? And I`m curious, which countries do you root for??? :)
