During our first and second visit to Hawaii we went to Tanaka of Toyko for dinner. It is a Teppan-yaki restaurant where the chefs cook for you on the table top grill. I can`t remember what we had on our first visit as we forgot our camera that evening, but on this visit the man ordered the Shogun Special and he had the lobster tail and sea scallops and I got the Wagyu beef, which was my first time having it and wow it`s delicious and better than Alberta beef I have to admit sorry lol. The Wagyu beef is not on the menu online, but promise it is available in the restaurant. The beef was so tender and melted in my mouth. I had The Tanaka Mango Mai Tai which was delicious and the best Mai Tai I had while in Hawaii and the man had his Sapporo beer. Every dinner meal was accompanied with pickled vegetables, crisp tossed green salad, grilled shrimp appetizer which was 2 shrimps lol, teppanyaki vegetables, steamed rice, miso soup, and ice cream for dessert. There were a few different types of ice cream selections but we both chose Kona coffee ice cream and I wish it were available here. We do have a similar style of restaurant here called Japanese Village, but it is no where near as good as Tanaka of Tokyo.
The only bad thing about the dining experience was that online at the time it was advertised that you`d get to keep the glass that the specialty drinks came in which had the Diamond Head Monument on it. When we were paying the bill we were told otherwise so I was quite ticked off I was expecting to get to keep the glass haha.
Have you been to a Teppanyaki type of restaurant before?
What did you think of it?
Is you haven`t would you like to go to one?
