tako - octopus and yaki - to grill or fry in japanese --> takoyaki are these delicious seasoned doughballs with octopus (though they have other flavors) inside. they are topped with things like mayo (sounds weird but trust, its yum. on that note, a lot of sushi has mayo so if you`re a sushi fan you may like this!) and green onions. it`s snack size and convenient. these are usually made fresh (thats the best way of course) but they do have them in the frozen aisle in some asian grocery markets (i just picked some up myself). remember to cool before you eat because these babies get hot!

i`m from southern california so that`s really the only area im a food expert in :( (i`m sorry) but for those of you who live in the area, here are a couple links to some takoyaki places and reviews from http://yelp.com. if you`re interested, you can of course google to see if you have a takoyaki place in your area!


often times because this is best fresh, this is only a special at locations on the weekend, sort of roach coach style, where someone comes out and makes them for the day.
