Today, I decided to try Tai Pei Asian Garden Spicy General Tso`s Chicken. I`ve never had General Tso`s chicken before so I didn`t know what to expect. My mom found it at the freezer aisle in Ralph`s. The price was quite nice at $2.62, however, She used a coupon to try it for free. Here`s the stats for those interested: 320 Cal, 4.5g of fat, and 5 grams of fiber. It took five minutes to microwave.
To start, the package design is very colorful and not very shy with the colors green and red. The pictures on it is very appealing and neat. The package itself fits well in my hand. The serving size seem to be reasonable for lunch.
They weren`t kidding when they called it spicy, for it is seasoned with Sriracha sauce. The broccoli and the red bell peppers gave it a nice color. The water chestnuts and the broccoli was juicy and flavorful and the rice was plentiful. The only con about this was the chicken. I found about 2-3 small pieces in the package. Compared to the vegetables, the flavor of the chicken fell flat. Even the Sriracha sauce couldn`t save it.
Will I get it again? Not really. I do like the vegetables, however, I was expecting more from the chicken part of the equation.
