During a date day for husband and I, we decided to stop by this froyo/cupcake shop located in a quaint little shopping area in Concord (CA) and share some cupcakes from a shop called "Sweet Tart". We`ve been there before and enjoyed their red velvet cupcakes so we figured, why not?
Upon entering, there was a husband and wife couple behind the counter and they greeted us promptly. After saying hello, we browsed their selection of cupcakes and several immediately caught our eye.
Of course, their red velvet with cream cheese frosting was a given for me but my husband was more interested in the mini cupcakes they had on display. So we ended up buying two of their red velvet cupcakes and three mini cupcakes which were lemon blueberry, cookies and cream and ube flavored.
The cookies and cream mini was okay. Nothing to really write home about. I think the only thing cookies and cream about it was the frosting and the cupcake was plain chocolate. The lemon blueberry with basil buttercream was really good! A great marriage between zesty and sweet. But the mini that won the gold out of the three was the ube mini. It tasted EXACTLY like ube (which is a yam that is known for it`s bright purple color) and splitting half of a mini cupcake wasn`t even enough for the both of us. LOL. It was so good that we ended buying another 6 mini cupcakes this past Saturday.
I think my only gripe is that it is a bit expensive. $3 for a regular sized cupcake and $2 for a mini. We ended up spending $12 total.
Now this shop has had it`s fair share of good and bad reviews, but regardless of what others say, this is my unbiased opinion and I personally enjoy their cupcakes and I would definitely be back. Especially for their ube cupcakes.
