I purchased these two Elf Essential line lipsticks in Classy and Charming on the eyeslipsface website. Prior to these two I had purchased two different colors at my local Target and found I generally enjoyed them minus the few cons I had (primarily with the packaging). As with just about any product out there, there are positives and negatives associated with them. Ill get into those in a little bit.
Firstly, Classy is a very pretty berry pink shade. Its said that Classy is to be a dupe for MACs Angel. I dont own Angel, so I cant compare the two. Now Charming is a neutral toned pink shade. I would say this is a very pink under toned nude shade. In the tube it looks relatively brown, but on my skin and on my lips the pink shines through. Both of these can be swiped on to be very sheer, or they can be built up to show the color more. Now onto my pros and cons:
Price. These are only $1 each and you get a pretty great product for that whole 100 pennies spent.
Pigmented. Both of these lipsticks are VERY pigmented, which is great considering the price.
You get a pretty decent amount of product in the tube. Just because its $1, Elf isnt skimping on the amount of product presented.
Packaging. Its really chinsey and cheap. I have not broken either of these yet, but you have to be super careful with them. The lipsticks also dont twist completely down into the tube, so if youre not paying attention you can easily snap off the upper half of the stick.
Drying. Sadly, both of these lipsticks are VERY drying. Im not sure if maybe I just got an older one, but they both tug at my lips during application and afterwards, I need to apply a gloss to them because it makes my lips feel like I havent used chapstick in weeks. So definitely apply a liberal coating of chapstick before putting these on.
Wear. These are not long lasting lipsticks, but I generally reapply lipstick/gloss, etc. a number of times a day so its not a huge deal breaker for me.
Overall, I enjoy both of these lipsticks for the color payoff and the price. The drying is a total bummer for me, but I can get around it with a liberal application of chapstick before application, and a liberal application of a clear gloss over them. Its not a bad product for a dollar.
Have you tried any of the Elf Essential line lipsticks? If so, what is/are your favorite shade(s)?
