Back in December when we had visited the man`s family in Newfoundland we decided to go for sushi one night. It happened to be at Basho which is one of the only places you can get sushi in Newfoundland probably. The chef was trained by chef Nobu Matsuhisa, which many of you may know of just by Nobu from the restaurants he has around the world. The first dish is actually a Nobu signature dish on the menu, which I believe was hamachi. Then we had scallops three ways, a sushi roll that was either called the super or mega roll which had pretty much a bit of everything: tuna, bbq eel, salmon, fish roe, avocado, and cucumber. We also had tuna and salmon rolls which had pieces of "tempura" or deep fried batter in it for texture. Of course no dinner is complete when you are away on vacation without some drinks. I had the lychee martini and the man opted to try a strawberry one they had on special and of course mine was better :). The sushi wasn`t spectacular compared to sushi we`ve had elsewhere at Nobu or Doraku, but it was still good.
