Okay, I don`t often buy Chinese takeout, and sometimes, I want to experiment in the kitchen, so I made my own "lo mein" using ingredients I had at home.
You`ll need: 1 large carrot, 1 or 2 scallions, 1 clove garlic, and some spaghetti or linguine noodles or whatever noodles you have, some soy sauce, and oil (I used olive)
You boil you pasta until it`s al dente, not too soft, not too hard. Strain and let it sit.
Put about 1 tablespoon of oil in pot, and add your garlic and carrots, keep heat low, then add about 1 tablespoon soy sauce, let it all simmer.
When you carrots are somewhat cooked, yet firm turn the heat off, and add your noodles in. Mix them to get them coated, add you scallions in last.
Don`t forget a dash of pepper if you like heat.
Does anyone else make their own "lo mein" with random kitchen ingredients?
Mine tastes really good!
