However, playing youth sports isnt all fun and games. Participation in school sports is at an all-time high, with nearly 7 million students playing sports. However, with participation comes sports injuries: 8,000 children receive emergency room treatment for sports-related injuries every day, and a total of 715,000 school sports injuries are reported each year. Kids can develop injuries, both acute and chronic, just like adult athletes. Knowing a few simple precautions is a good way for parents to help their children stay safe and still have fun playing sports.
