This is the cake I had the pleasure of making for one of my dear friends 20th birthday. It was also my first time tempering chocolate, which i would say was almost successful. Successful because the cake was great, and the chocolate did eventually harden and become solid. Not successful because the chocolate didnt turn fast enough, the spaghetti blob in the middle was supposed to be a 3D shapebut eh well. Im pretending spaghetti blob was what i was going for! The cake is two layer Victorian Chocolate cake, with a strawberry sauce filling. There was enough people at the birthday party that we finished off the cake that night. It was good, though a little too much chocolate, even for me, and ive decided that i like a ganache chocolate coating more. No complaints on the cake though, very moist and rich. Most definitely something i would make again (with modifications of course). Ive become quite attached to the strawberry fruit sauce i made too! Ive used the method several times since for all sorts of fruit sauce from blueberry to passion fruit.
