After I finished my internship in China and headed back home to the states, my plane stopped by Incheon International Airport in South Korea. It was my second time in Korea, but both times were very short because I only came there as part of a layover flight. Still, I was amazed by the atmosphere and wanted to stay longer.
Although my experience there was short and only at the airport, I really enjoyed my time there. One was the friendly environment. If I got lost, someone would help me. Yet I find it quite humorous that the people there mistaken me as Korean and spoke to me in fluent Korean before learning I can`t speak as much in their language. Sadly I could only reply a few things in Korean, but I was far from being very fluent. Luckily they spoke English so I didn`t have any problems. But I wish I could`ve spoke more fluent Korean.
The best experiences I had was authentic Korean food. When I was window shopping, I saw several restaurants with food displays. Although they were not real food on display, the fact they look almost real amazes me. I ate my lunch at one of the shops but one of the best food I had was kimbap so I order two kinds of it. At first, it was a bit too much for me to eat for one person but then again it didn`t stop me from eating something authentically made in Korea.
Another was the cultural experience. The airport had an cultural shop with traditional Korean items. Interestingly they also had a small performance with people in traditional Korean clothing. I love the females` traditional clothing Hanbok. They`re so many styles of it and I could go on talking about it but I just think it looks very elegant and beautiful.
Anyway, I wish I could`ve stayed longer and actually explored Korea. But what I got from Korea was a very good first impression. Hopefully when I get the chance to go, I get see the great things they have there.
If you had a chance to go to Korea sometime soon, what would be some things you want to do there?
