If you guys ever go to the Great Smoky Mountains in North Carolina and are looking for a nice spot to look at nature and have a great view at the same time, then I suggest going to Stone Mountain State Park just outside the small town of Traphill, NC. Stone Mountain splits over the two counties of Wilkes and Alleghany with the dome granite rock-face on the Wilkes county side. Stone Mountain is one of the few Mountains in the Appalachians with a huge exposed piece of granite sticking out of the side of a mountain. For you Rock Climbers it`s one of the best places in North Carolina for Rock Climbing. And it`s many streams and creeks allow for some great fishing. For Families the park offers several trails and a Mountain Culture Exhibit museum. With spectacular views of the surrounding land and mountains this is a great stop and I highly recommend it. I myself can see this mountain from my the edge of my property (some hills and tree are in the way at my house) and it`s a beautiful sight even from this far away.
