I`m sure you saw the title and are wondering, `What`s a waterless manicure?` Well, if you`ve ever gone to a nail salon and you ask to get a manicure (no acrylics), they usually put your fingertips into a bowl of water to soften up your cuticles for easy removal. Butter London has products that allow you to do your manicure at home without needing water. If you`re new at giving yourself a manicure, then please keep on reading for the step-by-step manicure that I did.
First, you want to start with cleaning up the cuticle area. I did this by using the Butter London Melt Away cuticle eliminator. You apply an even coat on all cuticles and let sit for at least 2 minutes to give the product time to soften the cuticles.
Second, you`ll need a cuticle pusher. The one I used is a metal one that came in a pedicure set that I recently bought. But if you have an orange stick, you can use that as well. Just be sure to trim off excess around the nail with cuticle clippers.
Next, I applied a thin layer of Butter London Nail Foundation flawless basecoat to all nails and allowed it to dry. This can be your last step if you choose not to apply a nail polish because this basecoat is a skin tone color and dries matte so even men can use this if they want to avoid the appearance of shiny nails.
Then, I applied Hen Party which is a nude with a blue duochrome. I used two coats to get the desired opacity. You can use whatever color you want but I chose to go with a neutral color instead.
Lastly, I used Butter London Hardwear P.D. Quick Topcoat. With this polish, your nails really do dry fast and look very shiny.
And that`s it! Using the melt away cuticle eliminator literally cut my manicure time in half and it wasn`t messy at all. This is great for those of us who don`t have time to sit with our nails in water for 5 minutes. So if you had any doubts about Butter London products, I can assure you that they work awesomely and I feel like they`re worth the price.
