Steamed Pork Buns Recipe

Yummy! Check out this Steamed Pork Bun looks pretty good right? Well, for those of you who would like to make this at home, now you can!

1 cup chopped onion
½ cup chopped carrot
1½ cup chopped zucchini
1½ cup chopped green onions
2 cups chopped white mushrooms
-1 cup of warm water
-2 ts dry yeast
-1/2 ts salt
-2 tbs vegetable oil
-1 ts sugar
-3 cups of flour
400 grams (14 oz) of ground pork
1 ts soy sauce
2 cloves of minced garlic
1 ts sesame oil
½ ts ground black pepper

First things first, you want to make the dough. In a large bowl, combine your warm water, yeast, sugar, and salt, and flour and give a good stir. Then set aside until it doubles in size. I usually take a damp cloth and place it over top of the bowl and by the time I am finished with the rest of the recipe, it`s ready to go.

Next, you`re going to mix all of your veggies and salt up and squeeze all the excess water out of them. (Tip: Use a cheese cloth to wrap a little at a time and squeeze the water out).

Then in a separate bowl, you will mix your pork, soy, garlic, sesame oil, and black pepper.

Afterwards, you are going to going to cook your pork mix and then your veggie mix and eventually combine the two once both have been cooked.

Now that you are done, you can start to make the buns taking your dough and cutting it into small pieces. Roll it out into about 4 in diameter or as large as you think you may need. Put a small amount of filling in and seal with fingers.

Putting about 6-7 cups of water into your steamer when you are finished making the buns, you are going to place them in separating them about an inch apart.

It should take about 20 minutes to steam the buns over the water you added.

NExt, is the fun part, eating! Be careful, they will be really hot. Serve them with your favorite dipping sauce. Mine happens to be the Worcestershire. =] Enjoy.
