My boyfriends` parents made this dish over the weekend and it was absolutely DELICIOUS!
I`m sure most of you have had baked clams in shells before but they decided to de-shell the clams and then steam them and the flavor was completely different! The texture was different too!
First they put the vermicelli at the bottom of the steamer. The vermicelli was there to help absorb flavor and retain moisture. Then the de-shelled clams are put on top. They seasoned it with garlic, sea salt and spring onions. They let them steam for a bit and they came out wonderful! The simple seasoning really brought out the flavor of the clams and the vermicelli absorbed the juices very well. It was incredibly savory and rich.
I bet if you used the juices from the clams to make a rice, it would taste even better.
I ate 3 of these because they were so good =)
