hey everyone! i wanted to share my steamed buns with you all! I had a HUGE craving for char siu bao (chinese bbq roast pork buns) so i decided to make some! I made vegetarian versions too! I dont quite remember how I made it but once I correct my recipe, I`ll post it here on Luuux one day! In Vietnamese they usually call it banh bao and is filled with pork, cabbage, carrots, and cellophane noodles. But I made them the Chinese way, but adding some mushrooms, carrots, and cabbage into the mix. Either way, it tasted really good. I made 3 dozen altogether and it was all gone after I shared with everyone!
But the flour mix for the dough was bought at the asian store. It has 3 elephants for the logo and the result is a super fluffy and slightly sweet dough. A perfect contrast to the slight saltyness from the pork. There`s lots of yummy recipes out there but this one is my favorite for char siu:
I also made a dessert steamed bun which is filled with custard. I didn`t make the custard but I`m determined to make it homemade one day!
Have you ever had steamed buns before? I love eating them on a cold night with congee on the side! Yum! Let me know what you think!
