For our third anniversary and an early birthday present to my man, I will be taking him to New York for 4 days. Neither of us have ever been on the east coast of the US before so it`ll be a first for us. We have decided that visiting the Statue of Liberty will be a must do since it is one of the most famous statues in the world. The statue is an icon symbolizing freedom and of the United States: a welcoming signal to immigrants arriving from abroad. The statue is located on Liberty Island which is in Upper New York Bay south of Ellis Island. I learned that entering the Statue of Liberty National Monument is free but you have to pay for the ferry ride there as private boats aren`t allowed to dock. I read that the pedestal and the crown are currently under renovations so you can`t walk up and get a closer view, but hopefully come November the renovations will be done and me and the man will be able to head up to the crown to take pictures of the city.
