Yeah another game review! And yep it`s another Star Wars game! This one is called Star Wars Jedi Knight II: Jedi Outcast. This one was released back in 2002 for the PC, X-Box, GameCube, and MAC. The game take place 2 years after the end of the Mysteries of the Sith and once again you take the role as former Jedi Kyle Katarn, who had severed his link with force after the end of Mysteries of the Sith. In the game Kyle must stop a new leader of the remnant Imperial forces from using the valley of the Jedi to make a new dark army and destroying the new Jedi Training facility on Yavin VI. You follow him as he regains his force powers and follows the trail of this new Imperial leader to stop his evil plans.
The game expands on the battle gameplay from Dark Forces II and Mysteries of the Sith, by providing much more lightsaber action and moves including light saber combos that allow for a variety of attacks and defenses. You can also chose from 3 different kind of light saber battling styles. The force powers however are no customizable and a increase at a fixed rate. Which annoyed some players. However the weapons from the original game remain and some are even revamped with better sounds and effects. Since coming out for the X-Box and Game Cube, the game got a HUGE graphics boost from the original games for the PC and the sounds got a huge boost too. The sound track was typical of most Star Wars game using the original tracks from the movies with very little originality. Another added feature to the game was you could chose either 1st person or 3rd person views of the main character to fight in. While you could do this in the other games, the controls lacked the sophistication from going from one view to the other, Jedi Outcast fixed this problem. And Just like the other games you could grow in the force gaining new powers, both light side and dark side.
Now I`ve only been able to play this game a couple of times (Don`t own it but rented it) and I can say it is a very fun and interesting Star Wars game to play. The Story, though not as interesting at the ones from the other two games, is still a good story to follow. This action packed game will keep you entertained from beginning to the very end! So I highly recommend it!
