I went to Stanford with my boyfriend and his family last week for a campus tour. I personally am not interested in going there for college, but it is an amazing campus with beautiful views and resourceful facilities.
We started at the visitor`s center off in the corner of the campus. We walked past the Hoover Tower, then into the Main Quad and the Memorial Church, then out along Lasuen Mall to the bookstore. It wasn`t a very detailed tour, but it took about an hour. The food court is not far from the bookstore, and they have many popular restaurants and coffee shops, like Subway, Panda Express, Peet`s Coffee, and etc.
After lunch, we went up to the Hoover Tower. You have to pay, and it`s 285 feet up from the ground. You can see the entire campus from the top. The guide told us that there used to be a student that would operate the bells at the top of the tower at certain hours.
One thing I noticed about the campus is that it`s almost deserted. The tour guide did say that it`s the second largest campus in the nation, but the student population is around average, so that gets stretched pretty thin.
We`re going to UC Berkeley`s annual Cal Day this Saturday, so I`ll have another recap up next week =) except I`m actually very interested in Berkeley!
