I have loved Ramen since I was a little kid. My mom would make it for me all the time. She`s one of the best cooks I know, and I always miss home cooked meals when I`m away from home. From my blonde hair to my blue eyes, nobody can really tell that I`m half Japanese on my mother`s side. In the past, people I have just met have made jokes about how I have this weird fascination with the Asian culture, but what they don`t know is that it`s in my blood! It`s the hidden part of me, and I used to wish I looked more like my mother, but now I enjoy surprising people with this tidbit of my background :) It`s always fun when I visit Japan, people are always impressed by how fluent my Japanese is.
I got some Shoyu Ramen at Santoku with my boyfriend today. It`s my favorite flavor. This place makes it really good. Some places the ramen can get so salty, I can`t even finish the soup. It has some bamboo, soft boiled egg, green onions, and seaweed to top! I love soft boiled eggs. I`ve always wanted to learn how to make them, but you have to be so careful with the cooking time; not my specialty. This is mildly spicy shoyu ramen. I`ve never had shoyu spicy, but this ramen house offers all of their ramen in regular and spicy flavors, so I had to try it. It was good, but I still like the regular better.
