In one of the biggest recent trades in the NBA, the Los Angeles Lakers held the dream of having Dwight Howard in their squad. On Friday, the California franchise managed the acquisition of the principal center of today, under negotiation involving the Orlando Magic, where the player acted, the Philadelphia 76ers and the Denver Nuggets.
Since the beginning of last season, there was talk about the Lakers interest in Howard. The franchise came to stay close to the deal, but saw their chances be reduced when the big man admitted he would rather go to the New Jersey Nets - the current Brooklyn Nets.
The Magic just managing to keep the player for another year, but this pre-season speculation came back stronger than ever. Nets and Lakers won the company`s Houston Rockets, who got rid of several athletes to pay the high salary of the star. But in the end, the team of Los Angeles won.
The Lakers also received the Magic players Chris Duhon and Earl Clark, and sent in exchange Josh McRoberts and Christian Eyenga. The Los Angeles team also lost their (now old) center Andrew Bynum for the Philadelphia 76ers, who in turn sent wingman Andre Iguodala to the Denver Nuggets, and the freshman Moe Harkless and center Nikola Vucevic for the Orlando team.
In exchange for Iguodala, who is in London with the U.S. team, the Nuggets sent winger Arron Afflalo and foward Al Harrington for the Magic, who have received some choices in Draft, but also lost Jason Richardson, who went to the 76ers.
