It may sound strange, but it is science, researchers have developed a fully functional cell made of a sheet of paper machine. The PaperPhone is the size of a credit card and responds to commands when has bent corners or when it is written with a pen.
The secret is that your screen, 3.7 inches, is made of a thin film that uses E-ink technology, the same as the Kindle e-reader. The result is a machine with the same tasks in a smartphone - to make connections to surf the web and share music.
The project is a partnership at Queen`s University in Canada, with researchers from the University of Arizona and the company`s E-ink. According to the team, the PaperPhone is only the beginning of a whole generation of devices lighter and stronger, and does not consume power when not handled.
The prototype was presented at the International Conference on Computer and Human Interaction, Canada, in early May. The idea is to refine the technology and make it faster until it can be placed on the market (the prediction of researchers is five years).
I`ll have one of these =)
