I was recently back in the US for a weekend trip to Detroit.
The youth group I belong to hosts a sports weekend every year, with different chapters taking the turn to host each year. This year, it was the Detroit chapter`s turn, so my friends and I made the drive over.
Before we headed home my friend insisted that we make a pit stop at a really popular bbq joint called Slow`s. We definitely did not regret it!
They had tons of delicious options like bbq and wings with some amazing sides. We also lucked out since we were 5 people and happened to grab the last seats at the bar before they had to start making people wait for up to 30 minutes!
I did manage to grab some shots of some of the things we ate, but not everything. We totally over indulged and didn`t finish a lot of what we ordered - I was full after just the sandwich, so the sides were totally unnecessary!
I ended up choosing a sandwich called the Triple threat with 3 kinds of pork - pulled pork, ham and bacon. Definitely a gluttonous choice but totally delicious. They generally serve things without any sauce but have a few different choices on the table for you to experiment with including a sweet sauce, an apple based sauce, a spicy sauce, a mustard sauce and a vinegar sauce.
I also managed to grab a picture of one of the sandwiches my friend ordered which was called The New Style - beef brisket with cheese and pickled jalapeños.
Another one of my friends skipped the sandwiches and instead went for an order of ribs. These were no ordinary ribs - they had a ton of meat on them, and we`re super tender. She loved it!
We all ended up ordering some sides to share as well including waffle fries, mac and cheese and coleslaw (pictured), as well as green beans (not pictured).
There was so much amazing food we gorged on. I love good bbq, and it`s so rare to find in Toronto, so this was a real treat :)
