Silk Blossoms For Lunar New Year

It`s the year of the Snake for 2013. The first day of Lunar New Year is on Feb. 10 of 2013 which falls on a Sunday. This day is perfect for everybody, no school for students so the entire family gets to stay home and enjoy this day. So as far as decorations go besides all the cleaning that has to be done, this is what I have so far. It`s just branches of silk blossoms I have bought at my Chinatown. They were $1.99 a branch and I bought 8 branches. I got the colors in red, hot pink and pink. I think it`s so pretty when all the colors are put together instead of just having one color. There were yellow and white too. I didn`t think the yellow would match and no one buys white during Lunar New Year. They believe white is bad luck on Lunar New Year. Then I also have some miniature lanterns hanging on the branches of the blossoms. The lanterns has tassels on the bottom and a Chinese work on it. The work "fook" meaning wealth is embossed on the lantern in gold color. When put together, I think it`s pretty than the real thing.
Have you decorated for Lunar New Year?
